Live Nation's Major Gospel Tour
According to a statement that was released by Kirk Franklin, the four artists were very happy to have the opportunity to partner with Live Nation. They considered it to be a great honor and responsibility. In addition, they also reiterated that the marketing support displayed for the gospel tour was monumental and it provided them with a great platform for inspirational entertainment.
The combined talents of the four the artists made the tour a must-see for all gospel music lovers. According to the Live Nation Entertainment, each of them come from different backgrounds with something unique to offer. Kevin Morrow, who is the senior vice president of touring and former manager of the Blind Boys, also stated that it was the right time for them to make a move into gospel.
The historic U.S. tour officially kicked off on September 16th at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, AZ and ended at the Barclays center in Brooklyn, NY on the 14th of October. Tickets for The King's Men Tour went on sale on May 11th, 2012. Live Nation Inc. is considered to be one of the largest concert promotion companies in the US. As a result, the tour was set to be a success from the start. And producing a gospel tour clearly showed the diversity of the company.
Live Nation is also looking to produce other gospel tours by up and coming artists at various House of Blues venues. However, this was largely dependent on how well The King's Men Tour did in each city. The company executives felt like they could use The King's Men Tour as a platform to promote other gospel artists. This is why they were so happy when the tour turned out to be a success. They were especially inspired by the fan's attendance in smaller cities. In addition, the 16 cities that were designated for the tour were chosen because they were the quartet’s hometowns and presented stronger markets for gospel music.
